This delicious New Orleans jambalaya recipe has been on my mind throughout the month! This weekend, I pack my bags. Monday morning, I fly to New Orleans !!! I feel so blessed to have been invited to lead a wonderful group of creative women in one of the most festive cities in the United States. While I'm there, I look forward to enjoying an authentic New Orleans jambalaya for dinner, followed by a small bag of beautiful puffy donuts for dessert. I am so excited!

This delicious jambalaya recipe is a fabulous taste of New Orleans. What you will love most about making New Orleans jambalaya is that it is an easy meal to prepare. I know that you and I are on the same wavelength in the search for ways to free ourselves so that we can spend more quality time with our families. Life is fast and hectic, so it's more important than ever to find quick and easy recipes that will allow us to sit at the table with our families and enjoy a delicious meal together. Spending time connecting with each other after a busy day keeps families connected and close and encourages the doors of communication to stay wide open.

A traditional New Orleans Jambalaya recipe includes onions, garlic, Cajun seasonings, a multitude of brightly colored peppers, chicken, shrimp, and delicious smoked sausage.

For this delicious New Orleans jambalaya recipe, I use the original Eckrich smoked skinless sausage. It is naturally smoked hardwood with a real smokehouse flavor. On other occasions, you can mix things up with the Polska Kielbasa skinless smoked sausage, the original smoked sausage with natural casing and the Polska Kielbasa smoked sausage with natural casing. With all of these awesome choices available, it's easy to prepare versatile family meals that are quick, satisfying and downright delicious.

Here are all the ingredients you will need to make a spectacular New Orleans jambalaya: olive oil, celery, red onion, peppers (I use a colorful mixture of green, red, yellow and orange), garlic, jalapeno , boneless / skinless chicken breasts, Eckrich smoked sausage, shrimp, okra, chicken broth, crushed tomatoes, long grain rice and spices.

Because a store bought Cajun spice jar is not available everywhere, I like to make my own homemade Cajun spice blend. This gives me the possibility of raising the temperature during cooking for adolescents and adults who like spicy foods, or of composing for family dinners with young children. My special Cajun spice blend includes easy-to-find spices you may already have on hand: paprika, sea salt, black pepper, oregano, thyme, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper . I also use two bay leaves for this jambalaya recipe.

To make this New Orleans jambalaya a quick meal in a pan, I did a little prep work the day before. I chop the celery, peppers and onions and refrigerate them in a plastic zipper bag. I mince the chicken, slice the sausage, remove the shrimp tails and put each in a separate container. The next evening, when I'm ready to prepare my New Orleans jambalaya recipe, it's a breeze to prepare dinner, on the table, and ready to enjoy with the family.
